Lisa Merriam is a marketing consultant generating value where branding and content strategy come together to drive reputation, revenue, and relationships. Her expertise includes brand strategy and naming, with a specialization in content marketing—including content strategy, copy writing, search engine optimization, and content distribution / publication. Lisa knows how to turn your brand strategy into content and get it out there and make sure it is read.

Lisa’s experience spans content strategy and marketing for Fortune 500 companies, small/mid-cap companies, private equity-backed entrepreneurs, and family offices. Her clients have included MetLife, ExxonMobil, McGraw-Hill, D&B, and UPS. Her prior roles include brand strategy and marketing positions for FutureBrand, and startups such as MIT’s E Ink, which developed the display technology for the Amazon Kindle, CENUS Corporation, and Downey Communications, a family-owned company.

Lisa is a student of disruption and insurgency. She sees change as a gateway to opportunity and something to be embraced. She particularly enjoys working on entrepreneurial projects for multinational corporations, for fast-growth start-ups, and in promising turn-around situations.

Lisa is on the Board of the American Marketing Association New York and chairs the communications committee. She is the creator, producer, and host of the AMA Brilliance in Marketing video series. She has been a guest lecturer for the Columbia University School of Business, the Microsoft Tech Center New York, New York University, Tsinghua University and the Kotler Marketing Forum, and contributes regularly to NPR, CBS, CNN, BBC, Fortune, Forbes, Crain’s, The Atlantic, Marketing Daily, and China Business News. She is the author of Merriam’s Guide to Naming and Weaponized Marketing: Defeating Radical Islam with Marketing That Built the World’s Top Brands.
